Beautiful Lake Kaiser is a source of relaxation and recreation every day.
Chof means beach,
and here at Camp Tavor, we use our recently restored waterfront to the fullest. We are equipped with rowboats, kayaks, and a camp favorite, the blue floating water mat, to run, jump and play on. We always use a buddy system in the swimming area, and there is always a lifeguard and dedicated water observer making sure that everyone is safe.
We test for swimming proficiency on the first day of camp, and we keep track of which roped-off area each camper can swim in most comfortably. Our strong swimmers can take a test to be allowed to do the traditional Shabbat (sabbath) Lake Swim, before breakfast on Saturday morning. The lake swim is attended by a certified lifeguard and water observers positioned in boats nearby the swimmers, and making it all the way across Lake Kaiser is a goal that many proud campers accomplish each session!
