Chanichim (campers) are divided into six age groups.
Shichvot are age groups.
Amelim are our our youngest campers, entering grades 4 and 5. Next is Chotrim, entering grades 6 and 7. Depending on enrollment, we subdivide Amelim and Chotrim into Aleph and Bet (”A” and “B”) by age.
Within Amelim and Chotrim, campers can opt for a shortened session during their first year of camp in a program called Explore Tavor. Explore Tavor campers are blended into the age groups and participate fully, enabling them to extend their stay for the full session if they so chose.
Bonim are entering 8th grade in the fall, Garinim are our 9th graders, and Bogrim are going into 10th grade.
Habonim-Dror youth entering 11th grade are encouraged to participate in the national movement’s M.B.I. program in Israel, and the following summer, are invited back to Camp Tavor to fill the roles of junior counselors in our Madatz program.
